Our water reeds are carefully selected, processed, and stored to meet the high standards required for traditional and ecological thatching applications.
Sourced from trusted harvesting regions, each bundle is prepared to ensure durability, resistance to mold, and long-term performance in roofing projects across Europe.
Harvest Timing Harvested during winter (December to February), when the reed’s structural properties are at their best for thatching use.
Cleaning & Bundling Reeds are evenly cleaned and tightly bundled to ensure uniformity and ease of handling.
Drying Process Air-dried naturally for a minimum of two weeks. Drying is done by bundle, not in compressed ballots, to preserve reed quality.
Storage Conditions After drying, reeds are stored in optimal conditions, maintaining their physical integrity and moisture balance.
Length Each reed measures between 1.7m and 2m in length — a critical specification for European thatching standards.
Diameter Reeds are selected with a base diameter of approx. 6~8mm and a tip of at least 2mm, ensuring optimal roof coverage and mechanical performance.
Moisture Content Maintained at below 12%, reducing the risk of mold and enhancing the reed’s longevity on roofs.
Density & Packaging Each bundle contains approx. 1,500 reeds, with 70 bundles packed per ballot, ensuring consistent volume and easy logistics.
